Purple Passon Asparagus ha large-diameter spears that have more sugars and emerge later than green varieties, protecting them from early frost damage. Mild flavor and low fiber content with a creamy green, tender interior make Purple Passion a chef's favorite. Spears turn green when cooked. Cut before spear exceeds 5 inches.
- Each offer includes 10 jumbo grade bareroots. These are 3 year old bare roots and can be lightly harvested after the first year.
- Purple Passion is grown for the stems or spears, a well tended planting yields 8 to 10 pounds or more per 100 square feet of bed or 24 to 30 pounds per 100 feet of row. Cut before spear exceeds 5".
- Cut emerging asparagus before the spear exceeds 5 inches. After harvest, asparagus must be completely dormant before mowing. Mow late Winter or early Spring.
- Grows up to 60 inches tall and 18 inches wide - Hardy in USDA zones 3 to 8
